A trio of angels Monica (Roma Downey), Tess (Della Reese), and Andrew (John Dye) are dispatched from heaven with a special mission: to inspire people facing sometimes unseen crossroads in their lives. Monica, an angel who at times still needs some guidance with her earthly assignments, reports to Tess, her tough, wise and always loving supervisor. Also on hand is Andrew, who, in addition to his duties as the Angel of Death, now helps out as a caseworker on various assignments. Gloria, an angel for the 21st century, continues to seek guidance from Monica performing her angelic duties. While the angels may not bring solutions to every problem, they always deliver a message of hope.

TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL is a wonderful, family friendly series that starred Roma Downey as heavenly caseworker "Monica" persisting in her earthly mission to rescue, minister, and redeem lost souls in order to facilitate their entry into paradise. Monica is assisted by her warm hearted, but no-nonsense supervisor "Tess" (played to perfection by Della Reese); and whenever the mortal in question is closer to his maker than usual, Monica and Tess are aided (beginning in season three) by "Andrew" (John Dye), the unfailingly polite and compassionate Angel of Death. The series finds the main characters performing their good works in a variety of time periods.
The strong scripting and acting talents (which included a strong rotation of guest stars), along with the solid moral premise of the show is what accounted for the shows longevity during it's run, and its ever growing fan base. One July 24, 2012, Paramount released this Touched By An Angel box set which includes the first five seasons on 33 discs. Closed captioning is included for the hearing impaired.

Wow Now I need seasons 6-9 quick. We dont even watch regular TV any more and Touched is something we need more of in our world today. Wish they still were making this show the best ever!!!

It is nice to watch a program and feel uplifted rather than depressed or frightened by serial killers. I stopped watching network programs 3 years ago because I was watching an autopsy and eating my supper. There has to be something seriously wrong when we consider murder and mayhem in graphic detail as entertainment.
